The HKSAR Flag flying high in the Olympic Village

To signify Hong Kong, China Delegation’s arrival at the Olympic Village for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Hong Kong, China Delegation Flag Raising Ceremony was successfully conducted at the Welcome Ceremony Plaza of the Olympic Village this afternoon with the presence of the Olympic Village Mayor, Madam CHEN Zhili, elected officers of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and 18 delegation members.


Under the leadership of Mr. Victor HUI Chun Fui, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong Delegation, a total of 35 athletes would take part in 11 sports events in Beijing, Qingdao and Hong Kong respectively namely: Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Table Tennis and Triathlon.

Mr. HUI praised the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) for the warm hospitality extended to the Delegation and the great effort made to ensure the comfort of all participants during their stay in the Olympic Village. “We feel most welcomed to the Olympic Village and are pleased with the high standard services provided by the staff members and volunteers.” Mr. Victor HUI said after the Flag Raising Ceremony.

Mr. Timothy T. T. FOK, in his dual capacities as an IOC Member and the President of the NOC Hong Kong, also made his presence to the Ceremony with 18 delegation members and Mr. and Mrs. John CHAN.
