Hong Kong Athletes attained a record breaking result in the 15th Doha Asian Games which was just concluded last Friday. With their effort and dedication to strive for excellence, the medal record set in 2002 Busan Asian Games was surpassed with 6 Gold, 12 Silver and 10 Bronze medals. Their commendable performances showed that Hong Kong athletes have greatly improved since the Busan Asian Games in 2002. This Games provided our Hong Kong athletes an opportunity to witness the competitiveness of the rest of Asian athletes and prepared them for even more stiff competition in the forthcoming Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
With the generous support from our Title Sponsor, Bank of China (Hong Kong) this year, a special award “Bank of China (Hong Kong) Best of the Best Hong Kong Sports Star Award” would be awarded to the athlete with the highest votes among the 8 winners of Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards category.

FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China; Mr. LIU Yun Kwan, Peter, Chief Information Officer of Bank of China (Hong Kong); Ms. Olivia CHAN, Assistant Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Mrs. Vivien FUNG, JP, Chairman of the 2006 Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards Organizing Committee.
