90 young athletes headed to Beijing today (“90 Young Athletes Olympic Tour” on 5-9 April 2007)

The “90 Young Athletes Olympic Tour - Talented Young Hong Kong Athletes Beijing Olympics Exchange Tour”, organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (“SF&OC”) and the Hong Kong Olympians and Meritorious Athletes’ Commission, and solely sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, commences the 5-day Olympic Tour in Beijing today.

The delegation departed today was led by the Hon. Secretary General of the Tour, Mr. PANG Chung, BBS. The Tour includes 4 Ambassadors (Mr. WONG Kam Po, Miss HO Ka Lai, Mr. Michael TSE and Miss YUNG Ka Yan), 90 young athletes aging from 10 to 20 years old of the 22 Summer Olympic Sports and 7 working officials. Elected officers of SF&OC, including President The Hon. Timothy T. T. FOK, GBS, JP; the Hon. Vice-President Mr. YUE Yun Hing, MH; Vice Presidents Mrs. Vivien FUNG, JP and Mr. Tony TUE, MH; and the Hon. Deputy Secretary General Professor LEUNG Mee Lee, saw the delegation off in the Hong Kong International Airport.
During the 5-day tour in Beijing, the delegation will visit the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games competition venues, Training Venue of National Squad, the Beijing Sport University, Beijing No.8 Middle School and the Beijing Olympic Countdown Clock. Sharing session with national team athletes will also be arranged. To let the young athletes know more about the historical aspects of the Mainland, the Tour will pay a visit to famous scenery spots like Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and Great Wall during the tour.
