SF&OC formally submitted application of hosting the 2009 East Asian Games to the HKSAR Government

Accompanied by Mr. Pang Chung, the Hon. Secretary General, the Hon. Timothy T. T. Fok, President of SF&OC formally submitted SF&OC’s application of hosting the 5th East Asian Games to HKSAR government through Dr. Patrick Ho, Secretary for Home Affairs this morning (21 June).

The Hon. Timothy T. T. Fok’s submission represented the consensus of SF&OC of biding 2009 East Asian Games which was endorsed by the Council at the 308th Council Meeting held on 20 June 2003. In receipt of the President’s letter, Dr. Ho expressed confident that the HKSAR government will strongly support the proposal. Meanwhile, the preparatory work will start on right now until November 2003 when the good tiding of Hong Kong’s hosting of the 5th East Asian Games will be announced on 2 November 2003 at Macau in the 19th East Asian Games Association Council Meeting on 2 November 2003.
