Bank of China (Hong Kong) 50th Festival of Sport Closing Ceremony and Carnival Successfully Launched

The Bank of China (Hong Kong) 50th Festival of Sport (FOS), a 3-month programme organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), solely sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, was announced closed yesterday (3 June 2007) after the launching of Carnival and Ceremony at Kowloon Park.

The Closing Ceremony was officiated by Mr. F.K. HU, GBS, JP, Vice-President of the Federation; Mr. Raymond LEE, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Bank of China (Hong Kong); and Mr. Vincent LIU, Deputy Director of Leisure and Cultural Services.

Under the advocating of the “Healthy Exercise for All”, local citizens have been encouraged to participate in sports activities every day. In order to convey the message of “Sport for All” to the public, some 70 sports activities have been organized by 64 National Sports Associations in the past few four months.

In the carnival day, the public participated in the dancing and rope skipping tutorials on spot. Over 1000 dancers from Hong Kong Dancesport Association Ltd dressed in costumes paraded and presented dance performances and over 1000 rope skippers from Hong Kong College of Cardiology Jump Rope for Heart Program demonstrated magnificent rope skipping skills in the two-hour event. The finale programme involved television artists, EO2, Vincy TANG and HOTCHA together with medal winners in 2006 Doha Asia Games, i.e., Mr CHAN Yun To (Bodybuilding), Ms CHEUNG Yi Nei (Fencing), Ms CHAN Ka Man (Karatedo) and Ms YUNG Ka Yan (Rowing) leading the public to perform the stretching exercise. Hundreds of people joined the stretching exercise and concluded the closing of FOS in an energetic atmosphere.
