The 23rd East Asian Games Association Council Meeting, 2007 Rules & Technical Committee Meeting and Medical Committee Meeting (Hong Kong, 23 June 2007)

We are pleased to announce that the 23rd East Asian Games Association (EAGA) Council Meeting, EAGA Rules & Technical Committee and Medical Committee Meetings were successfully held today in The Regal Hongkong Hotel, Causeway Bay. Delegates coming from the Member National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the East Asian zone including China, DPR Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Macau, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, Associate Member NOC of Guam, and representative from the 5th East Asian Games Planning Committee and relevant Government Department attended the Meetings. Moreover, Bidding Committees of Tianjin 2013 East Asian Games, led by Mr. ZHANG Junfang, Vice-Mayor of Tianjin Municipality, and Ulaanbaatar-2013 East Asian Games Bid Committee, led by Mr. Tsend DAMDIN, Vice President of Mongolian National Olympic Committee, also attended the EAGA Council Meeting, to give their presentations to bid for the right to host the 6th East Asian Games in 2013.

The 23rd EAGA Council Meeting and 2007 EAGA Rules & Technical Committee and Medical Committee Meetings were kicked off after the Opening Ceremony held on 23 June 2007, at 9:30 am in the Regal Ballroom, B1, The Regal Hongkong Hotel. The Open Ceremony was officiated by The Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of EAGA and Vice President of OCA, and Mr. Thomas CHOW, JP, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services. Present also were Mr. YU Zaiqing, IOC Member and Vice President of OCA, and the Elected Officers from the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.

The closed door Meetings started right after the Opening Ceremony. The Medical Committee Meeting was held at 10:00 a.m. in which various issues regarding Doping Control arrangement and medical services of 2009 East Asian Games were discussed. The meeting ended at 10:45 am.

After that, the Rules & Technical Committee Meeting commenced at 11:00 a.m., the venue renovation and construction, sports programme and competition events of 2009 East Asian Games and other related issues were discussed. The meeting ended at 11:45 a.m.

The 23rd EAGA Council Meeting commenced in the afternoon at 2:15 p.m. Proposals made by the 5th East Asian Games Planning Committee on the subjects of sports programme, competition events and Games period of 2009 East Asian Games were discussed and approved by the Council (Appendix I). Two Bidding Committees for the hosting of the 6th East Asian Games from Tianjin, China and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia respectively made their presentations in the Meeting. Tianjin won the hosting right of the 6th East Asian Games in 2013.
