Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards 2002 Awards Presentation Ceremony

The annual most prestigious sports event in Hong Kong - the Awards Presentation Ceremony of the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards 2002 has successfully concluded on Monday, 10 March 2003. This was held in conjunction with the annual Spring Dinner of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Sponsors of the events are Bonaqua, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited, ESPN STAR Sports, AIA Foundation, Mainland Headwear Holdings Limited and TAG Heuer. Prize money totaling HK$346,000.00 was awarded to the winners. Apart from the elite athletes and representatives from National Sports Associations, many distinguished guests were also present to honour the happy occasion.

The following winners of the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards each received a cash awards of HK$30,000, a trophy and a watch sponsored by TAG Heuer:
1. Mr. Chan Kwok Ming from Hong Kong Billiard Sports Control Council Co., Limited
2. Ms. Chiu Wing Yin, Rebecca from Hong Kong Squash
3. Ms. Lee Lai Shan from Windsurfing Association of Hong Kong
4. Ms. Li Fai from Hong Kong Wushu Union
5. Mr. So Wa Wai from Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled
6. Ms. Wang Chen from Hong Kong Badminton Association

The following winners of Hong Kong Junior Sports Stars Awards each received a cash awards of HK$10,000, a trophy and a return air ticket sponsored by Cathay Pacific Airways Limited:
1. Ms. Chan Wai Man from Windsurfing Association of Hong Kong
2. Mr. Chung Kwok Leung from Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association
3. Ms. Lai Wai Ling from Hong Kong Sports Association for the Mentally Handicapped
4. Mr. Lam Kai Tsun from Hong Kong Cycling Association
5. Mr. Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress
6. Ms. Yu Chui Yee from Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled


The winners of the "ESPN STAR Sports Scholarships to Hong Kong's Young Athletes" sponsored by the ESPN STAR Sports were:
1. Mr. Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress; and
2. Ms. Yu Chui Yee from Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled.

The winning team of the Hong Kong Sports Team of the Year Award received a cash award of HK$50,000 and a trophy. The winning team was the Hong Kong Snooker Team from the Hong Kong Billiard Sports Control Council Co., Limited and the team members were Mr. Chan Kwok Ming, Mr. Fu Ka Chun Marco and Mr. Fung Kwok Wai.

The following winners of the Hong Kong Potential Sports Stars Awards each received a cash Awards of HK$8,000 and a "Bonaqua Trophy":
1. Ms. Chan Ho Ling from Hong Kong Squash
2. Mr. Chan King Yin from Windsurfing Association of Hong Kong
3. Ms. Chan Wing Suet from Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association
4. Ms. Fan Pui Shan from Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled
5. Mr. Agus Hariyanto from Hong Kong Badminton Association
6. Ms. Lau Sui Fei from Hong Kong Table Tennis Association

For the Hong Kong Well Being Stars Awards, the winner was Mr. Wong Kam Po from Hong Kong Cycling Association. He received a cash Awards of HK$8,000 and a "Bonaqua Trophy".
