Presentation of 2007 IOC “Sport and Promotion of Olympism” Trophy

In the presence of Count Jacques ROGGE, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the IOC Trophy 2007 “Sport and Promotion of Olympism” was presented to Mrs. Carrie LAM, JP, ex-Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs and now the Secretary for Development of the HKSAR Government, in recognition of her active and deep involvement in sports policy formulation and development in the community.

The presentation of the 2007 IOC trophy was held today in the Hong Kong Club during the welcoming reception in honour of the visit of IOC President. This trophy is titled “Sport and Promotion of Olympism”, and aims to reward individuals or entities that have promoted Olympism and its values, particularly those of “excellence, respect and friendship” at a national of international level, while emphasizing the activity/initiative in itself.
Mrs. Carrie LAM is well-known of her passion on sports and has been an enthusiastic supporter of Olympic Movement in promoting and assisting in the development of sports in Hong Kong. Because of her commitment and contribution in sports, it is all recognizable that sports were given much more attention and care by the Government as well as the whole community under her helm.
