The Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games had concluded successfully

The Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games (2nd AIG) had concluded successfully at Hong Kong Stadium on 28 September 2007.

Accompanied by The Hon. Timothy FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (the Federation), the officiating guest Mr. TSANG Tak Sing, JP, Secretary for Home Affairs presented the HKSAR flag to Mr. Karl KWOK, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong Delegation to the 2nd AIG.
The Hong Kong Delegation comprising 199 members would participate in the forthcoming 2nd AIG which will be held from 26 October to 3 November 2007 in Macau. After a conscientious selection process, a largest contingent of 136 athletes would represent Hong Kong to take part in 14 sports namely: Bowling, Chess Sports (Xiangqi), Cue Sports, DanceSport, Dragon and Lion Dance, Extreme Sports (Inline Stunt, BMX Freestyle, Skateboard, Sports Climbing), Finswimming, Futsal, Indoor Athletics, Indoor Cycling, Indoor Hockey, Short Course Swimming (25m), Muay and “3on3 Basketball” (Demonstration Sport). In 2005, only 34 athletes were sent to the inaugural Asian Indoor Games in Bangkok to compete in 6 sports. Hong Kong athletes had achieved brilliant performance by attaining 12 Gold, 9 Silver and 5 Bronze medals, ranking Hong Kong fourth on the medal tally among 37 participating countries / regions. Furthermore, the Swimming team had set six new Hong Kong records in Short Course Swimming (25m). Before the conclusion of the Flag Presentation Ceremony, all guests pledged the Delegation with a toast, wishing for their great success in the 2nd AIG.
To further promote the 2nd AIG to the public, the Federation had established a webpage in our official website to introduce the Games and the Hong Kong Delegation. During the period of 2nd AIG, the most updated competition results of the Hong Kong Delegation will be uploaded onto the webpage. For details, please visit our official website at www. hkolympic.org.
