Welcome Home Reception for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games

The Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games was successfully concluded in Macau, China on 3 November 2007. Hong Kong ranked 3rd in the medals tally among 45 Asian NOC countries / regions participating in the Games, with a medal haul of 15 gold, 9 silver and 12 bronze medals (including one bronze medal in the demonstration sport ¡§3on3 Basketball¡¨).

To celebrate the triumphant return of the Hong Kong, China Delegation, a Welcome Home Reception was specially arranged on 5 November 2007 at Jockey Club Lecture Theatre, Olympic House at 7:00pm. We were the honoured to have Mr. Thomas CHOW, JP, Director of the Leisure & Cultural Services was officiated at the Reception. The Hong Kong, China Delegation comprised 199 members and participated in 14 sports namely: Bowling, Chess Sports (Xiangqi), Cue Sports, DanceSport, Dragon and Lion Dance, Extreme Sports (Inline Stunt, BMX Freestyle, Skateboard, Sports Climbing), Finswimming, Futsal, Indoor Athletics, Indoor Cycling, Indoor Hockey, Short Course Swimming (25m), Muay and ¡§3on3 Basketball¡¨ (Demonstration Sport).
The Asian Indoor Games is a new Multi-sports Games established to provide an opportunity for Asian athletes to widen their exposure, also with the aim of promoting the Olympic Movement and indoor sports to Asia. In the 1st Asian Indoor Games held in Bangkok in 2005, Hong Kong sent a delegation of 64-member competed in six out of nine sports.
