Support your favourite Sports Stars in the “Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards 2007” through Online Public Voting!

18 December 2007-Hong Kong: Organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), with the Bank of China (Hong Kong) again as the Title Sponsor, the “Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards 2007” Online Public Voting commences today. The Online Public Voting Press Conference was held today at World Trade Centre, Causeway Bay to remind the public to vote for their favourite sports stars.

This year, the SF&OC received a total of 144 nominations from 32 Member Associations in six categories. A total of 50 nominees will compete in the most coveted category “Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards”. As a tribute to local athletes for their dedication and distinguished sports achievement, The Hon. Timothy FOK, GBS, JP, President of the SF&OC appealed for public’s active participation in showing their support through the Online Public Voting.
Four categories, including “Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards”, “Hong Kong Junior Sports Stars Awards”, “Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Team Only Sport” and “Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Team Event” were opened to public voting from today (18 December 2007) to 17 January 2008. The nominees list and profiles have been posted on the SF&OC website at www.hkolympic.org. Each voter will automatically enter the lucky draw and five lucky winners will win HK$1,000 adidas Hong Kong Limited cash coupon. The results of the Awards will be announced on 19 February 2008 in the Awards Presentation Ceremony.
In order to enhance the public’s interest in this event, the SF&OC with the support from the Samsung Electronics H.K. Co. Ltd. co-organizes with Ming Pao Group the “Guess the Winners Contest” for the category “Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards”. Members of the public can pick eight winners of this Award through “Inforline System”. Members of the public who could pick a minimum of 4 correct winners will automatically qualify for the lucky draw and have the chances to win prizes worth over HK$45,000 sponsored by Samsung Electronics H.K. Co. Ltd. Details of the contest will be announced in due course.
The Hon. Timothy FOK also took this opportunity to express the Federation’s heartfelt thanks to the Bank of China (Hong Kong), the Title Sponsor and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for their continuous support to this event, Manulife (International) Limited and Samsung Electronics H.
