On the other hands, the “Guess the Winners Contest” will be launched between 21 and 27 January 2008 in Ming Pao. Hong Kong citizens could guess 8 awarded athletes of the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards via Infoline System or HKSSA 2007 official website. Participants who correctly guessed a minimum of 4 awarded athletes could enter into the lucky draw and have the opportunity to win prizes sponsored by Samsung Electronics H.K. Co. Ltd.
The Media Luncheon organized by Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China today (10 January 2008) was to introduce to members of the Sports Media the mechanism of the voting whilst also inviting them to vote for their favourite athletes and teams. With the media’s support and in-depth knowledge of sports in Hong Kong, their votes would definitely give added credibility and value to the Awards.
As of 9 January 2008, over 45,000 votes were received from the public. This certainly reflects the public support towards Hong Kong athletes. The upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympic also arouse more support from the public towards sports in Hong Kong.
