Bank of China (Hong Kong) 51st Festival of Sport Opening Programme

The Festival of Sport (FOS) is an annual sports event organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (Federation), and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

This year, around 80 sports events would be organized by 64 Sports Associations during March to June throughout Hong Kong. Through these events, the Federation would like to encourage people of all ages, sex, background and economical conditions to participate in sports, hence, to further promote Hong Kong sports development. This year, the Federation was proud to have the Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK) to be the Title Sponsor of the 51st FOS. Besides, we are also very delighted to invite Mr. WONG Kam Po, Hong Kong cycling athlete; Mr. Sam WONG Tak Sum, ex- Hong Kong windsurfing athlete and Ms YUNG Ka Yan, ex-Hong Kong rowing athlete to be the 51st FOS Ambassadors to serve as Sports Ambassadors in promoting the fun and advantages of sports to the people in Hong Kong.
To celebrate the 51st anniversary of the FOS which also falls into the Olympic year, the Federation is going to substantiate the content of the Festival in terms of promotional activities and sports events. The Federation would endeavour a new venture by organizing the Grand Opening Ceremony at the Times Square Open Piazza II, Causeway Bay on 16 March 2008 (Sunday) at 5:00p.m. Furthermore, a two-day Opening Programme that combines sports and culture would be organized to provide a level platform in allowing sports to get closer to the public and to experience the real atmosphere “Sport for All”. Details of the programme are as follows:-

Time : 12:00noon – 9:00p.m.
Venue : Times Square, Causeway Bay
Activities : Public participation sessions in various sports, sports demonstration,
a Grand Opening Ceremony and Cultural Night
Remarks : All events are free admission.
