The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government presented the HKSAR flag to the Hong Kong, China Delegation

The Flag Presentation Ceremony of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Games of the XXIX Olympiad had concluded successfully at the Happy Valley Clubhouse, Hong Kong Jockey Club on 4 July 2008 (Friday).

Accompanied by The Hon. Timothy FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (the Federation), our Guest of Honour The Hon. Donald TSANG, GBM, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government presented the HKSAR flag to Mr. Victor HUI, SBS, JP, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong Delegation to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
The Hong Kong Delegation comprising 72 members would participate in the forthcoming Olympic Games which will be held from 8 to 24 August in Beijing, China. As of the present moment, 34 qualified athletes would take part in 11 sports namely: Aquatics (Swimming), Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Rowing, Sailing (Windsurfing), Shooting, Table Tennis and Triathlon. In 2004, 32 athletes were sent to the Athens Olympic Games to compete in 10 sports. Table Tennis duo, KO Lai Chak and LI Ching had captured a silver medal in the Table Tennis (Men’s Doubles) event, which granted Hong Kong the 64th place on the medal tally. During the Flag Presentation Ceremony, all guests wished the Delegation all the best with a toast, for their success in the coming Olympic Games that will be held in the territory of China for the first time.
The Federation had also established a mini webpage in our official website dedicated to the Hong Kong Delegation to the Beijing Olympic Games. During the period of the Olympic Games, the most updated competition results of the Hong Kong Delegation will be uploaded onto the webpage.
