The Hong Kong, China Delegation departed today for the 42nd International Children’s Games (ICG) to be held in San Francisco, USA from 10 to 15 July 2008.

The Hong Kong, China Delegation comprising 10 members would participate in the forthcoming ICG. Under the leadership of Prof. LEUNG Mee Lee, Hon. Deputy Secretary General of the Federation cum Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China Delegation, six young athletes aged between 12 and 15 would represent Hong Kong to participate in two sports including Golf and Swimming of the captioned Games. This is the second time Hong Kong was being invited to be one of the participating cities since the inaugural Games held in Slovenia in 1968. In 2006, Hong Kong sent a Boy’s and a Girl’s Volleyball Team to the 40th ICG held in Bangkok.
The 42nd ICG is endorsed by the International Olympic Committee and is the only global, youth athletic event that combines sports, educational programs and peace-motivated cultural exchange. This Games will bring together athletes between the age of 12 to 15 years old, from over 50 countries / regions to participate in eight sports namely, Basketball, Golf, Soccer, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, Swimming and Volleyball.
