Meet the Press Session for ¡§Road of Asia¡¨ in Hong Kong - Promotional Campaign for Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games

Meet the Press Session for ¡§Road of Asia¡¨ organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) was held on Saturday, 27 June 2009 morning at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, officiated by The Hon Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of the SF&OC, Mr. Xu Rui Sheng, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou and the Deputy Secretary General of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, Ms. Janet Wong, Principal Assistant Secretary for Home Affairs (Recreation and Sport) and Mr. PANG Chung, BBS, Hon Secretary of the SF&OC and 3 others. In the meantime, a welcoming ceremony for ¡§Cocachin¡¨ was held before starting of the Press Session.

The Hon Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of the SF&OC commented that, ¡§ I would like to take this great pleasure for SF&OC in hosting the Press Session for the ¡§Road of Asia¡¨ campaign in Hong Kong. I cordially wish the Promotional Campaign for Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games keeping on a marvelous success. I also bless the local athletes for achieving their best ever results at the upcoming East Asian Games in Hong Kong, and strive for the excellence at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games and London 2012 Olympic Games.¡¨
Co-organised by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC), the ¡§Road of Asia¡¨ campaign aims to promote the 16th Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou in 2010. The ¡§Road of Asia¡¨ campaign was officially launched in November last year, on the occasion of two-year countdown to Guangzhou 2010.
¡§Cocachin¡¨ has already visited 7 countries and more than 10 harbours along the ancient maritime Silk Road since she set sail from Kuwait on 11 March 2009. She is now arriving at Hong Kong, its place of origin today.
