Triumphant Return of Hong Kong, China Delegation from the Bangkok 1st Asian Martial Arts Games

The 1st Asian Martial Arts Games was successfully concluded in Bangkok on 9 August 2009. To celebrate this triumphant return of the Hong Kong, China Delegation, a Welcome Home Reception was specially arranged today at Jockey Club Lecture Theatre, Olympic House. We were honoured to have The Hon. Timothy T. T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China to officiate at this Reception. At the same occasion, The Hon. LAM Tai Fai, BBS, JP, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China Delegation gave out money prizes to all medallists as an encouragement for our athletes magnificent achievement in the Games.

Hong Kong sent a delegation of 45 members, comprising 23 athletes to participate in 5 sports, namely Judo, Karatedo, Muaythai, Taekwondo and Wushu (Duilian and Sanshou). The Delegation attained a total of 2 Silvers in Karatedo and Muaythai, 3 Bronzes in Wushu, and ranked 24th in the overall medal tally (Please refer to Annex for the detail list).
While the Olympic Council of Asia announced in the 28th General Assembly in July 2009 that the following Asian Martial Arts Games would be merged with the Asian Indoor Games as one multi-sports Games in 2013, the Federation would like to wish all our athletes continuous success in their future competitions.
Finally, the Federation would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to adidas Hong Kong Limited in appreciation of their continuous support to the Delegation. Once again we would like to congratulate on the Hong Kong athletes for their outstanding performances in this Games.
