Online Public Voting now Available for 2009 Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards

Organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China “(SF & OC)”, subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in conjunction with the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (“BOCHK”) as Title Sponsor, 2009 Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards aims at recognizing the outstanding performance of local athletes within the past year. The relevant press conference was held today at Times Square, Causeway Bay to officially kick off the Online Public Voting Campaign, with the presence of the guests and award nominees.

The Hon. Timothy FOK, GBS, JP, President of the SF&OC appealed to the general public for their active participation of Online Voting, so as to support their favorite athletes and teams. As members of Hong Kong delegation had participated into a number of international sports games with exceptional results, it is believed that this competition will draw the attention of general public.
This year, SF&OC received a total of 178 nominations from 35 National Sports Associations competing for six categories of awards. Online Public Voting will be available for four categories of awards, including “Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards”; “Hong Kong Junior Sports Stars Awards”; “Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Team Only Sport”; and “Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards for Team Event”. In addition, the “Hong Kong Sports Star” with the highest vote will be automatically entitled to the “Bank of China (Hong Kong) Best of the Best Hong Kong Sports Stars Award”. The results will be announced in the Awards Presentation Ceremony to be held on 11 March 2010.
From 9 January to 8 February 2010, citizens can vote for their favorite athletes via the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards’ official website at http://sportstars2009.hkolympic.org. What is more, each voter will automatically enter into the lucky draw, and stand a chance to win a free spending credit of HK$1,500 on “BOC CUP Dual Currency Credit Card” sponsored by BOC Credit Card (a total of 5 winners); as well as adidas shopping coupon of HK$1,000 sponsored by adidas Hong Kong Limited (a total of 5 winners).
