Panasonic Sports Scholarship Programme Results Announced  10 Olympic hopefuls chosen to prepare and achieve their goals in London 2012

The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and the Shun Hing Group today jointly announced the 10 awardees of the Panasonic Sports Scholarship Programme (Scholarship Programme).

Under the Scholarship Programme, ten local athletes were selected and each would receive a total subsidy of HK$150,000 within 18 months falling from August 2010 to January 2012. The Scholarship Programme would assist our athletes to better prepare and strive for the best results in the London 2012 Olympic Games by providing financial support towards the cost of their training, coaching, medical and scientific monitoring.

The Scholarship was awarded to the following ten athletes:-


Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association Limited - Ms. LEUNG Hau Sze
Hong Kong Badminton Association Limited - Ms. YIP Pui Yin
Hong Kong Cycling Association - Mr. WONG Steven
Hong Kong Equestrian Federation - Ms. LAI Zin Man, Jasmine
Hong Kong Fencing Association - Mr. CHEUNG Siu Lun
The Gymnastics Association of Hong Kong, China - Mr. SHEK Wai Hung
Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association - Ms. KONG Man Yi, Yvette
Hong Kong Table Tennis Association Limited - Mr. CHIU Chung Hei
Hong Kong Tennis Association - Ms. WU Ho Ching
Hong Kong Triathlon Association Limited - Mr. LO Ching Hin, Ivan

All nominations were assessed and evaluated by the Selection Committee, comprising Mr. F. K. HU, GBS, JP, as Chairman, Mr. PANG Chung, SBS as Vice Chairman, together with Members including Mr. Ronnie M. C. WONG, JP, Prof. LEUNG Mee Lee and Mr. Kenneth K. K. FOK.

Finally, the Federation would like to take this opportunity to express its heartfelt thanks to the Shun Hing Group for their generous contribution towards Hong Kong sports development.
