Athletes, district and Korean reps relay to bear the torch of Busan Asian Games

Members of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 14th Busan Asian Games, representatives from 18 districts and the Korean community will join in the 2002 Busan Asian Games Torch Relay in Hong Kong on 15 September 2002 at Wanchai Sports Ground.

The extravaganza not only symbolizes the friendship between both Chinese and Korean communities in the SAR, it is also a spiritual boost for our athletes in the run-up to the Busan Asian Games.
The Torch Relay, which kicks off at 8.30am, will span a distance of 18 laps. Torchbearers and runners will be comprised of representatives from 28 National Sports Associations participating in the Asian Games, 18 districts, as well as Korean organizations and schools.
A simple but sacred Torch enkindling ceremony will be officiated by the President of the Federation Mr. Timothy Fok, high ranking officials from the SAR Government and representatives from the Korean community.
Prior to the start of the Torch Relay, brass band will perform during the flag raising ceremony, followed by dragon and lion dance.
Other performances include traditional Chinese and Korean dances.
The Torch Relay is open to public and admission is free.
