Welcome Home Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 14th Busan Asian Games

The Welcome Home Ceremony was held on 17 October 2002 at the Government House. The main Guest of Honour was the Hon. Tung Chee Hwa, the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government. Many other VIPs, including Dr. Patrick Ho, Secretary for Home Affairs were present to also salute the contingent for their success.

In the Ceremony, the President present the gold medal to Mistral Gold Medallist Ms. Lee Lai Shan in his Olympic Council of Asia Vice President' s capacity.
The Hong Kong, China Delegation comprising of 109 officials and 218 athletes, competed in 28 out of 38 sports on offer. Despite very tough competition and extremely high standards in all event, our athletes garnered a very creditable medal haul of 21, i.e. 4 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze.
In addition to the excellent medal results our athletes achieved top honours by creating new Hong Kong records in 1 athletics and 7 swimming events.
