Apart from judging panels’ votes, there are four categories, namely Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards; Hong Kong Junior Sports Stars Awards; Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Team Only Sport and Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Team Event, which accept the votes from public and sports media. Sports media always keep their ears on the ground to the performance and movement of the Hong Kong athletes. Their contributions are most valuable to the Awards. For that reason, the Federation specially organized the “Media Luncheon” for members of sports media by offering them close dialogue to heighten the level of public awareness.
The response of on-line public voting is very encouraging that 24,499 votes had been received on this morning. The distributions of votes are as follows: 11,415 votes for HK Sports Stars Awards, 9,916 votes for HK Junior Sports Stars Awards, 1,798 votes for HK Sports Stars Award for Team Only Sport, and 1,370 votes for HK Sports Stars Award for Team Event. The voting trend also changes every day and up to this morning, Fan Chun Yip of Football, Wong Ho Yeung of Boxing, Lee Lai Shan of Windsurfing, Ko Lai Chak and Li Ching of Table Tennis, Wong Kam Po of Cycling, Chiu Wing Yin, Rebecca of Squash and Fu Ka Chun, Marco of Billiard led the top 8 of HK Sports Stars Awards; Sze Hang Yu of Swimming, Tang Yik Chun of Athletic, Yip Tsz Wa of Swimming, Liu Nga Yin of Handball, Wong Wai Hong of Badminton and Lau Wan Tat of Handball led the top 6 of HK Junior Sports Stars Awards; Sun Hei Football Team and Women's Swimming Relay Team of Sports for Mentally Handicapped led the top of HK Sports Stars Award for Team Only Sport and HK Sports Stars Award for Team Event respectively.
