Hong Kong Softball Association was found since 1937 and it aims on developing and promoting softball. It has become a member of the Softball Confederation Asia and the International Softball Federation since 1961. With much effort, we have outstanding performance in social services, sport trainings, international events and etc, which laid a solid foundation in softball.
Playing softball can help us to develop our body functioning, enhance the coordination of our intelligence and body, and also build up team cooperation. It is such a friendly sport that it can be a leisure sport or an elite sport. Consequently, we organize elementary level and intermediate level training courses, pitching and batting training courses regularly. We also organize umpiring, scoring and coaching courses. Furthermore, there has been a new mini-softball for children since 2004 in order to facilitate the promotion in primary schools.
In the aspect of competitions, we have open leagues, Festival of Sport, inter-school competitions, overseas and local international tournaments. Apart from the local training, a comprehensive elite training program is also provided by the Association so as to groom the potential players to become Hong Kong team players.
On the other hand, the improvement works at Tin Kwong Road softball field will be completed soon. There will be new facilities on the field. We are planning to organize more invitational tournaments. Representative teams from different countries will be invited. Through such tournaments, experience and skill will be exchanged among each other and hence thereby raise the standard of the Hong Kong players. Moreover, local people will have opportunities for watching softball games of different levels.
