Hong Kong grabbed 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals in the first competition day of the Bangkok 1st Asian Indoor Games.

Hong Kong promising young athlete TANG Yik Chun won the first gold medal for Hong Kong in the first competition day of the 1st Asian Indoor Games as well as setting the Games' record of 6.80 sec for Men's 60M event.

'On the other hand, the swimming team won a total of 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals on the same day with SZE Hang Yu winning the title in Women's 50M Freestyle a time of 25.67 sec, another Games' record. 4th East Asian Games bronze medalist, SUEN Ka Yi, and her teammate WONG Hiu Nam placed second and third in Women's 100 breaststroke with the time of 1'12.43" and 1'12.67" respectively, while the Women's 4x100M Freestyle Relay Team won another silver medal for Hong Kong with a time of 3'51.93".

The Men's 60M competition of Indoor Athletics was held in Pattaya with 23 entries from 16 participating territories, TANG's teammate, LAU Yu-leong just lost his seat to the final with the time of 6.90 sec in the preliminary round held in the morning, while WAN Kin Yee ranked fourth in Women's 60M final with a time of 7.81 sec, just 0.11 sec behind the bronze medalist from China.

TANG, after receiving the gold medal from The Hon. Timothy T. T. FOK, President of the SF&OC, will return to Hong Kong on 16 November from Bangkok.

The 1st Asian Indoor Games will be held in Bangkok from 12 to 19 November. A total of 1312 participants from 36 territories take part in the Games.
