Award of the 1st Asian Indoor Games Bronze Medal to Swimmer FU Wing

In the occasion of the Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong Delegation to the XX Olympic Winter Games, Mr. Ronnie WONG, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong Delegation to the 1st Asian Indoor Games, presented the Bronze Medal to the swimmer FU Wing for the event of Men’s 50m freestyle in the 1st Asian Indoor Games due to the disqualification of Kazakhstan swimmer in this event.

Hong Kong had sent out its 64-member Delegation to the inaugural Asian Indoor Games held in Bangkok, Thailand from 12 November to 19 November 2005. A total of 37 territories/ countries had taken part in the Games, including the sports giant of the East Asia – China, Japan, Korea and Kazakhstan, the new force from Central Asia.

In our 5 days’ competition, the Hong Kong Delegation have preformed outstandingly by grabbing 12 golds, 9 silvers and 5 bronzes in indoor athletics, extreme sports (sports climbing), indoor cycling and swimming; and renewing six swimming Hong Kong records. The brilliant performance of our athletes, which ranked Hong Kong fourth among the 37 participating territories/ countries in the Games.

The next Asian Indoor Games will be held in Macau in 2007.
