Secretary General; Mr. Victor HUI, Vice President, Mr. Ronnie WONG and Professor LEUNG Mee Lee, Hon. With the successful conclusion of the 4th Macao East Asian Games and symbolically the handing over of the EAGA Flag to Hong Kong on 6 November 2005, the hosting right of the 5th edition of the East Asian Games was passed to Hong Kong. However, administrative-wise, the process of transfer would not be fulfilled if the East Asian Games Association (EAGA) Secretariat has not been officially handed over to Hong Kong. The official hand-over ceremony was thus carried out on 2 February 2006 whereby the President of Macau NOC, Mr. LAAM Wah Ying, handed over to the President of EAGA, The Hon. Timothy FOK of Hong Kong a souvenir to mark the occasion.
Upon the completion of the Ceremony, the day-to-day operation of the EAGA for the coming four years will be taken up by its Secretariat in Hong Kong, which will be starting its operation from 2 February 2006 onwards.
The Federation is confident that with the full support of the HKSAR Government and commercial sponsors as well as the enthusiastic co-operation of Hong Kong citizens, Hong Kong will organize its best ever East Asian Games in the region.
