The 15th Doha Asian Games is going to be held from 1 December to 15 December 2006 in Doha, Qatar. To celebrate this quadrennial event, Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) is proud to announce that we are chosen by the Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee to be one of the 15 relay legs among the Asian countries/ regions.

The Opening Ceremony and Closing Celebration will be held at the UC Centenary Garden, Tsim Sha Tsui East and the Golden Bauhinia Square, Wai Chai respectively. A Cocktail Reception will be held in the Bauhinia Room, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre right after the Closing Celebration.

Total distance of the Torch Relay will be around 4.5km. The Asian Games Flame will be transported from UC Centenary Garden to Wai Chai Golden Bauhinia Square, through Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, Avenue of Stars, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Kowloon Public Pier, the Victoria Harbour, Expro Promenade, Reunification Monument, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre en route, and finally arrives at the Golden Bauhinia Square.

By the nominations of all National Sports Associations, 23 elite local athletes were selected as Torchbearers as per Appendix attached. The first and the last Torchbearers will be Bowler WU Siu Hong and Table Tennis stars, LI Ching and KO Lai Chak respectively. It is also our honour that the Ambassador of the Doha 2006 Asian Games Torch Relay, His Excellency Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, will come to Hong Kong to officiate the event. It is believed that the event will be much bustled.

This will be the first time that the Asian Games Flame arrives at Hong Kong. As the Flame will be stopped over at Hong Kong for just one day's time and depart for Indonesia on the next day, it will be a golden opportunity for Hong Kong citizens to witness this spectacular occasion. We encourage all citizens to actively take part in the event on that day.

Finally, the Federation would like to express our gratitude to all parties involved, especially Qatar Airways, the Official Sponsor and Pocari Sweat, the Official Drink Sponsor.
