Olympic Day Run 2004
Presented by McDonald’s
TM
Open for enrollment now
The annual prestigious sport event,
Olympic Day Run is scheduled to be held on 20 June 2004 (Sunday) at 8:30am at
Wanchai Sport Ground.
The theme of this year’s Run is
“Support Hong Kong Delegation to the 2004 Athens Olympic Games”. The
organizer, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC)
is pleased to have the fully support of McDonald’s Restaurants (Hong Kong)
Limited to be the title sponsor of this event.
To add colour to the event,
complimentary pedometers supplied by McDonald’s will be provided to around 2,000
members of the general public and McDonald’s crew participating in the event for
steps counting. It is anticipated that the total distance to be covered by
participants of the day will approximately equal to the distance from Hong Kong
to Athens, (i.e. 9,000km), which also symbolizes general public’s support to the
Hong Kong Delegation to the Athens Olympic Games.
In addition, a Torch Run jointly
organized by the SF&OC and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD)
would also be introduced as part of the event to celebrate the coming Olympic
Games. Representatives of the 18 Districts will be invited to form Olympic
rings at the centre of grass pitch as a gesture of support to the Hong Kong
athletes’ participation in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
The run is now open for
enrollment with 2,000 quotas at first-come–first–served basis;
the closing date of entry is 11 June 2004 (Friday). For registration,
