Seven Hong Kong Athletes awarded Olympic Scholarships by the International Olympic Committee Olympic Solidarity to strive for London 2012 Olympic Games eligibilities

29 October 2010: The Presentation Ceremony of the Olympic Scholarships for Athletes “London 2012” was held today at Olympic House.

Olympic Solidarity’s mission is to offer assistance for all the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), particularly those with the greatest needs, so that they can develop their own structures to favour the expansion of sport in their countries. The World Programmes is one of three programmes which increase support for elite athletes at all levels and for youngsters in particular, and to increase assistance for the preparation of athletes for Continental and Regional Games, as well as for the NOCs’ preparation for and participation in the Olympic Games.

This year, seven promising young Hong Kong athletes would be awarded for the Olympic Scholarships for Athletes “London 2012” by the IOC Olympic Solidarity leading to London 2012 eligibilities. The seven local scholarship holders are: Mr. LEUNG Ki Ho from Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association Limited; Mr. CHOI Ki Ho and Mr. KWOK Ho Ting from Hong Kong Cycling Association; Mr. CHOW Kwong Wing and Ms. LEE Ka Man from Hong Kong, China Rowing Association and Ms. TANG Wing Yung Natasha Terri and Ms. SZE Hang Yu from Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association. Each athlete would be awarded US$1000 per month and the 24-month Scholarship programme would be operational from September 2010 until August 2012.

Congratulations to the seven scholarship holders for their remarkable achievement. The Federation sincerely wishes them all the best in their preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
