THE HONG KONG FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
|
|
The Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) was founded in 1914 and the Hong Kong Football league is the oldest league in Asia. Over the past eighty-nine years, HKFA makes every effort to promote and develop local football and a solid foundation was thus established.
With the objectives of elevating the performance of football in Hong Kong and establishing a systematic youth development plan for future success, HKFA has taken initiatives to implement programmes to reach these important objectives. A number of high level international matches and tournaments had been organized in the past few years to facilitate valuable learning opportunities for the local players. The standard of the National Teams have been improved through the competition in these matches. Qualifying in the Finals of the East Asian Football Championship is a milestone for Hong Kong Football.
Significant resources have been invested into the nurturing of youth players. Systematic youth development programmes are being implemented with the support from major cooperations and the LCSD with a view of enhancing the participating interest in football amongst the young population, and nurturing of stars of the future.
It is a hard mission to make local football flashes and there is still a long way ahead of us. However, we deeply believe that with collective effort and never give-up spirit, this can be achieved one day!
