Baseball is an all-rounded sport. Not only is it able to strengthen our youths’ physique, train their judgment and help them to think critically and tell right from wrong, in addition, it fosters them in good team spirit and sense of co-operation.
In the early 70’s Hong Kong Little League (HKLL) was formally introduced by a group of American and Japanese expatriates organizing small-scale baseball competitions for youngsters. In 1976, a group of baseball enthusiasts finally formed the first all Chinese youth baseball team to participate in the Little League games.
Until the 90’s, the founders of Hong Kong Baseball Association (HKBA) wish to organize and promote this sport effectively and efficiently; thereby enabling them to penetrate all communities to provide training courses and organize competitions for youngsters and even adults. It is hoped that this will encourage more baseball enthusiasts from all walks of life to actively join in its promotion, in order to let Hong Kong people to move a step forward into the baseball world. After two years’ careful planning and preparation, the Hong Kong Baseball Association was formally incorporated with limited liabilities by guarantee in Hong Kong on 27 October 1992. The Inauguration Ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on 26 March 1993.
The HKBA has organized several training courses for both adult and young baseball players in various districts in Hong Kong, training courses for coaches, umpires and scorers. In addition, HKBA developed a set of Elite Training Structure 3 years ago to organize and train the athlete in order to participate in any international games. Moreover, every late-December, HKBA will organize and invite different baseball teams from around the world to join the International Baseball Invitational Tournament.
