THE HONG KONG ASSOCIATION OF SPORTS MEDICINE & SPORTS SCIENCES

Our Association was founded on 1988 with the following two major objectives:
1) To promote and advance the practice, education, and research of medical science in relation to sports
and exercise;
2) To promote and establish friendly relationships with other associations locally and overseas.

On 2 November 2002, together with CUHK-WHO Collaborating Center for Sports Medicine and Health
Promotion, and Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association, the FIMS SYMPOSIUM ON SPORTS MEDICINE will be organized in Hong Kong, world renown sports surgeons and experts will discuss with us on the current concepts in the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
In December, the Association, together with the International All Chinese Exercise Physiology Association, will organize another International Conference on Exercise Physiology and Health in Hong Kong.
In order to promote sports science and sports medicine to the general public, a series of workshops and seminars will be conducted early next year (2003). The contents of the seminars will include: sports injuries in various joints; cardiovascular system response to exercise; and exercise in heat, etc.
Last year, the Association had provided expert advice and services to the Hong Kong Football Association. Such services will be continued and will be extended to other NSAs.
