HKCCA has been operating for 50 years since the formation in 1952. Beside individual members, our member associations also include various regional Chinese chess clubs in Tsuen Wan, Yuen Long, Sha Tin, and other organizations.
|
We organize numerous competitive, promotional, and training activities each year. Recently, there are more than 100 players in the Individual's Championship and nearly 300 players in the Secondary Students' Championship. Masters' tournaments are held in Festival of Sport.
In the Mid-autumn and Lunar New Year lamp festivals and major celebrating functions each
year, we organize Chinese chess challenge stalls to play games with the public and set up demonstration board for illustration. People respond actively as hundreds games are played
in each occasion. National coaches, Chinese chess masters are invited from China to teach Chinese chess and train our athletes in Hong Kong. We also send players to undertake training programs in the mainland and organize training courses each year.
The Hong Kong Chinese chess team also attained numerous international and regional accomplishments. Island Kon won the champion of the World Xiangqi (Chinese chess) Championships (Non-Asian division) in 2001 while Ng Chun Hei got the 3rd place in the men's division of the Chinese chess competition in the Guangdong Province sports festival.
They were awarded Chinese Chess Masters titles accordingly. The Hong Kong team also won the championship of the National Day Tri-lateral Chinese Chess Friendly Match in 2001 and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Inter-city Chinese Chess Competition in 2002.
