27 June 2010 - Organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (“Federation”), the annual festive sports event, 2010 Olympic Day cum Olympic Day Run (ODR) was successfully held on 27 June 2010 (Sunday) at 7:45 a.m. at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
It was proud to have the Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Federation and Mrs. Betty FUNG, JP, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services to officiate at the Opening Ceremony of ODR. Apart from the two officiating guests, dignitaries of the venue management of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and the two Major Sponsors of Shun Hing Group and Samsung Electronics H.K. Co. Ltd and other Sponsors were also included in the official platform party.
For two consecutive years holding the event at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, the newly designed 5.6 km route covered all scenic areas around the Resort which attracted more than 4,000 participants and 11 corporate teams to join the event. Participants started at Disneyland Coach Park, ran along Park Promenade, Waterfront Promenade, then turned at Sea Point Road towards Magic Road and finished at Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre. This year, in response to International Olympic Committee’s appeal to celebrate the worldwide Olympic Day, apart from the fun run, the Federation organized a sport carnival to add fun to the public by setting up the games booths and introducing the dragon and lion dance and marching band performances into the event which brought the great excitement to the public and promoted the Olympic Day theme of “Move, Learn and Discover”.
The Federation would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to various organizations and commercial sponsors for their support to ODR.
