In celebration of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the annual “Sport for all” event, 2008 Olympic Day Run (ODR) is scheduled to be held on 22 June 2008 (Sunday) at 8:30a.m. at Wanchai Sports Ground. Under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the ODR is organized by Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), solely sponsored by Samsung Electronics H.K. Co. Ltd., subvented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and co-organized by Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA). With the starting point at Wanchai Sports Ground, all runners will pass through the prestigious landmarks including Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre and Golden Bauhinia Square covering a course of close to 5km.
The theme of this year’s Run is “We’re CheeRunners” aiming to appeal the Hong Kong citizens to show their support in the form of running to the Hong Kong athletes, competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Meanwhile, it also advocates a healthy lifestyle to the general public. With the first ever Olympiad Equestrian Events to be held in Hong Kong as the co-host city of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, it will certain rally greater responses from members of the public to join the run.
The ODR is now opened for enrollment for individuals of all ages and corporate teams. Parents and kids are welcomed to join a family day as well as to cultivate a sporting lifestyle for the children. For registration, please get the Entry Form at the Secretariat of SF&OC, HKAAA or 18 Districts Offices of LCSD, or download it at the website of SF&OC (www.hkolympic.org).
