Bank of China (Hong Kong) Olympic Day Run 2002


Same as pervious years, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) patronage each National Olympic Committee (NOC) to organize a run to cerebrate its foundation date on 23 June 1894. To support this movement, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (Federation) joins hand again with the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA) to organize its 16th Olympic Day Run and to promote the Olympism throughout Hong Kong.

With the title sponsor from the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited; the sponsors from Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Swire Coca-Cola Hong Kong Limited, the 16th Olympic Day Run is scheduled on 23 June 2002 (Sunday) at Wanchai Sports Ground. The officiating guests on that day include Mrs. Rita Fan, President of the Legislative Council; Mr. Lam Woon Kwong, Secretary for Home Affairs; the Hon. Timothy T. T. Fok, President of the Federation; Mr. Zhu Chi, Deputy Chief Executive, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited; Mrs. Loran Mao, Assistant Director (Leisure Services) of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department; and Mr. Alex Moh, President of the HKAAA.

To support the 14th Busan Asian Games, the theme of the Day Run is ????Support the participation of Hong Kong athletes in Busan Asian Games??. The Federation also invited approximately 40 Olympians since 1956 to participate in the Day Run. To make it more competitive, 2,000 more citizens had join the race.

In order to enhance the atmosphere, students of Man Kiu College are invited to present a marvelous dance performance named ????The Miao Girls?? to the sweating spectators and competitors. Before the race, some fitness trainers from the Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong, China Ltd. will lead a warm-up exercise while a group of roller skaters will accompany the Olympians in entering the battlefield.
