The Hong Kong, China Delegation departed today for the 46th International Children’s Games (ICG) to be held in Daegu, Korea from 12 to 17 July 2012.
The Hong Kong, China Delegation comprising 20 members would participate in the forthcoming ICG. 14 young athletes aged between 12 and 15 would represent Hong Kong to participate in three sports including Athletics, Swimming and Tennis of the captioned Games. This is the third time Hong Kong sending a team to participate in the Games since its inaugural Games held in Slovenia in 1968. In 2008, the Hong Kong, China Delegation attained 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze totaling 6 medals.
The 46th ICG is endorsed by the International Olympic Committee and is the global, youth athletic event that combines sports, educational programs and peace-motivated cultural exchange. This Game will bring together athletes between the age of 12 to 15 years old from difference countries to participate in seven sports namely, Track and field, Swimming, Tennis, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Football and Volleyball.
