Full Support for Best Achievements of the Hong Kong Delegation at the London 2012 Olympic Games

In less than one month to go, the London 2012 Olympic Games will kick off on 27 July!

To celebrate this once every four years mega event of the Olympic Movement, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (the Federation) features a prelude for the London Olympic Games, one of the most anticipated events in the sports world, “Full Support for Best Achievements of the Hong Kong Delegation at the London 2012 Olympic Games” today (4 July 2012) at Jockey Club Lecture Theatre, Olympic House.  This event aimed to showcase our support to the Hong Kong Delegation to the London 2012 Olympic Games, at the same time, taking this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to the government, all the sponsors and local supporters who have given their contribution to the Federation and our elite athletes in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games. 

The Federation was honored to have invited the Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Federation, Ms. Petty LAI, Acting Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr. Andrew SEATON, British Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macao to deliver a speech at the ceremony, giving their blessing and good wishes to the Hong Kong Delegation in the Jockey Club Theatre.  During the ceremony, the Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Federation, together with Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, Hon. Secretary General and Ms. Vivien LAU, BBS, JP, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong Delegation to the London 2012 Olympic Games presented a token of appreciation to the supporting organizations and sponsors respectively, including Home Affairs Bureau, British Consulate General, Hongkong Post and the following organizations*:

Another highlight of the ceremony was the previewing of 2012 Olympic Stamps.  With the endorsement of International Olympic Committee, Hongkong Post will formally issue a set of four commemorative stamps and a first day cover on 27 July 2012 in celebration of London 2012 Olympic Games.  The stamps were unveiled by Mrs Jessie TING YIP Yin Mei, JP, Postmaster General, Mr. Bon KWAN, the designer of the Stamps, the Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP and Mr. PANG Chung, SBS at the same occasion.  After the ceremony, guests were invited to have a tour around the showcases displaying the exhibits arranged by the sponsors and Hongkong Post at Olympic House, demonstrating the support from the local supporters and commercial sector to Hong Kong Sports.
 
In the same afternoon, the Federation had also arranged a “Sports Education on Olympism Programme” talk to promote Olympism to over 150 teachers and students.  Ms. Bjork CHENG Yuk Han, serving Fencer and Ms. Elise NG Jia Yunn, serving Squash athlete were invited as the guest speakers in sharing their sporting experience.  In addition, the Federation had produced a set of educational display panels, illustrating the six-decades history of the Olympic Movement in Hong Kong and Hong Kong’s participation in the Olympic Games.  The educational display panels would be displayed at the Olympic House during the London Olympic Games period, and interested schools could borrow the display panels for free afterwards.
