Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Award 2011 is now Open for Online Public Voting
Hong Kong, 7 January 2012: The Oscar of the Sports Fraternity - The Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Award 2011 (the Awards) held a Press Conference today at Times Square, Causeway Bay, to kick off the Online Public Voting. The Awards is supported by BOCHK Charitable Foundation, as the Title Sponsor, organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, Hon. Secretary General of the SF&OC, invited the general public to cast their votes in support of their favourite athletes and teams as a tribute to the local athletes for their dedication and distinguished achievement in the past year and supporting their possible participation in London 2012 Olympic Games. Keen competition is expected among the athletes for the Awards. In addition, the presence of the Officiating Guests and the nominees for this year’s awards added prestige and glamour to the event.
This year, SF&OC received a total of 165 nominations from 39 National Sports Associations competing for the six awards categories, of which four categories would be opened for online public voting, namely the “Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards”, “Hong Kong Junior Sports Stars Awards”, “Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Team Only Sport”, and “Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards for Team Event”. In particular, the athlete who wins the highest votes among the eight winners of the “Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards” will also be awarded the “Centenary Celebration of Bank of China - Best of the Best Hong Kong Sports Star Award”. The results of these awards will be announced in the Awards Presentation Ceremony on 27 February 2012.
The public can visit the Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards official website at http://sportstar2011.hkolympic.org to cast their votes before the deadline on 31 January 2012. Each voter would automatically enter into the Lucky Draw. Eight lucky winners will receive a free spending credit total valued over HK$30,000 for the "BOC CUP Dual Currency Credit Card" sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) and BOC Credit Card, and fourteen winners will receive Panasonic household appliances with valued over HK$10,000.
