Reception in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the SF&OC

On the occasion of 60th anniversary of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), the Reception in celebration of the SF&OC’s 60th Anniversary was held on 3 December 2011 at Grand Ballroom, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.

The Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member and President of the SF&OC, welcomed The Hon. Donald TSANG, GBM, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region, Mr. LIU Peng, the Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China and the President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, and other distinguished Guests to start off a full hour of programme dedicated specially for this event.  In addition, a series of Hong Kong sports history photographs and footage formed a hugh backdrop of moving images on the hugh screen round the ballroom.

To mark the Hong Kong athletes’ contribution for Hong Kong, commemorative medals of SF&OC’s 60th Anniversary were presented to every Hong Kong medallist of the Olympic Games, Asian Games, National Games, Commonwealth Games and East Asian Games on stage.

To commemorate the event, a special publication was issued in celebration of the SF&OC’s 60th Anniversary which recorded 60 years of Hong Kong sports history.  The title of the Special Publication is Ever Onward (60 Years of Sporting Excellence - The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China).  We are much honoured to have The Hon. JAO Tsung-I, global renowned scholar, contributing for the Chinese calligraphy on the cover, and Prof. Edmund KWOK Siu Tong as the Author.  The changes in Hong Kong sports over the past 60 years are now made available for readers to understand through the reconstruction of the Federation unpublished archives and documents, as well as interviews with many renowned sports personalities.
