The Sport Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) has come to its 60th Anniversary in 2011. To commemorate this special occasion, SF&OC has organised a series of celebration events in 2011, we would like to express our thanks to Sponsors Samsung Electronics H.K. Co. Ltd, Bank of China (Hong Kong), Crocodile Garments Limited, FILA, Join Merit, and Kent & Curwen to the Reception in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary. The 60th Anniversary Special Publication were subsidised by the funding of the Home Affairs Bureau and Fok Ying Tung Foundation. We also give our appreciation to the sponsorship from Shun Hing Group, Xtep International Holding Limited, and Swire Coca-Cola HK Ltd to make a series of SF&OC annual mega events in 2011 successfully presented.
The SF&OC announced its 60th Anniversary Celebration Programmes at the Press Conference held on 23 December 2010. During the press conference, a kick-off ceremony to launch the Diamond Jubilee Logo cum lighting of Olympic House in celebration of the SF&OC’s 60th Anniversary was officiated by The Hon. Timothy T. T. FOK and other Elected Officers.
Various celebration events have been presented in 2011, including the Bank of China Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards 2010 cum SF&OC Spring Dinner 2011 in Feburary, Bank of China (Hong Kong) 54th Festival of Sport held from March to June, 2011 Olympic Day cum Olympic Day Run presented in late June, the gracious attendance of Count Jacques ROGGE, President of the International Olympic Committee, at the SF&OC Celebration Reception cum Presentation of IOC Trophy in July and the Visit of the SF&OC Delegation to the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) conducted in early August. In addition, members of the National Sports Associations have also joined the year round celebration through their respective organisation of 32 mega events to mark this grand celebration.
Headed by the Hon. Timothy T. T. FOK, SF&OC President and Mr. PANG Chung, Honorary Secretary General, Mr. A. F. M. CONWAY, Mr. Victor C. F. HUI, Mr. Karl C. KWOK, Mr. Tony K. L. YUE, Vice-Presidents, Mr. Ronnie M. C. WONG, Prof. LEUNG Mee Lee and Mr. Kenneth K. K. FOK, Honorary Deputy Secretaries General, formed the SF&OC Delegation to pay a courtesy visit to the COC, General Administration of Sport of China, and Hong Kong And Macao Affairs Office Of The State Council from 6 to 8 September 2011 in Beijing. SF&OC Delegation was welcomed by Mr. LIU Peng, General Administration of Sport of China Minister and COC President, Mr. YU Zaiqing, COC Vice-President, Mr. SONG Luzeng, COC Secretary General, and the officers of the National Sports Training Centre, and the Hong Kong And Macao Affairs Office Of The State Council.
The Special Publication was published in celebration of the SF&OC’s 60th Anniversary and recorded the 60 years of Hong Kong sports history. The Special Publication is titled Ever Onward in English and Ri Xi You Xi in Chinese. The 60th Anniversary Special Publication Sub-Committee was formed with the Hon. Timothy T. T. FOK, the Hon. A. de O. SALES, Mr. YUE Yun Hing as Honorary Advisers, Mr. PANG Chung as Chairman, Mr. Victor C. F. HUI, Mr. Ronnie M. C. WONG, Professor LEUNG Mee Lee, and Mr. Kenneth K. K. FOK as Members. Special appreciation was given to the Hon. JAO Tsung-I, global renowned scholar, for the Chinese calligraphy on the cover, and Professor Edmund KWOK Siu Tong as Author. The changes in Hong Kong sports over the past 60 years with focus on five multi-sports games and three mega sports events in Hong Kong are now made available for reader to understand through the means of drawing reference to the Federation archives and documents, as well as interviews with many renowned sports personalities.
The Reception in Celebration of the SF&OC’s 60th Anniversary, the finale of the celebration programme was held on 3 December 2011 and officiated by the Hon. Donald TSANG, Chief Executive of the HKSAR and Mr. LIU Peng, General Administration of Sport of China Minister and COC President. The Reception provided a timely opportunity for the old and new friends from Hong Kong and China in sports sector to share their views and experience. Commemorative medals and windbreakers were presented to all medallists. The Special Publication – Ever Onward was issued on the day and distributed free to all guests and medallists.
