IOC President J. ROGGE visit Hong Kong in celebration of SF&OC 60th Anniversary cum Presentation of IOC Trophy - Sport and Socia

The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) is the only organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee as a regional National Olympic Committee, leading 74 Member Sports Associations in Hong Kong. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the SF&OC, Count Jacques ROGGE, the President of International Olympic Committee (IOC), arrived Hong Kong today (19 July) for his two-day visit to honour this special occasion.

Count J. ROGGE was welcomed by IOC Member cum President of SF&OC the Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK and other government officials, which included Mr. TSANG Tak-sing, GBS, JP, Secretary for Home Affairs at the Reception welcoming the President of the IOC in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the SF&OC held by SF&OC today at the Hong Kong Club. Moreover, President ROGGE, accompanied by the Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK, presented the IOC Trophy - Sport and Social Responsibility to Mr. T. Brian STEVENSON, Chairman of Hong Jockey Club and President of Hong Kong Rugby Football Union in recognition of his distinguished accomplishment and contribution to sports and social responsibility. After the speeches, they led a toast accompanied by Mr. Yu Zaiqing, Vice President of IOC and various distinguished guests in this celebration event.

President ROGGE will depart Hong Kong on 20 July, which marks the end of his two-day visit to Hong Kong.

60th Anniversary celebration events of SF&OC
To foster “Sport for All” and public awareness towards sports in Hong Kong, SF&OC has organized a series of events of celebration throughout the year. With the sponsorship from the Bank of China (Hong Kong), Samsung Electronics H.K. Co. Ltd, Crocodile Garments Limited and FILA, the 60th Anniversary Celebration Press Conference of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China was successfully held at the Hong Kong Stadium on 23 December 2010. During the press conference, a kick-off ceremony of launching the Diamond Jubilee Logo cum lighting of the Olympic House in celebration of SF&OC’s 60th Anniversary was officiated by the Hon. Timothy T.T. FOK and various committee chairmen of 60th Anniversary.

A series of celebration events would span in 2011, including Bank of China (Hong Kong) Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards 2010 cum SF&OC Spring Dinner 2011, Opening Ceremony of Bank of China (Hong Kong) 54th Festival of Sport, 2011 Olympic Day cum Olympic Day Run, Reception welcoming the President of the IOC in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the SF&OC cum Presentation of IOC Trophy – Sport and Social Responsibility, Visit to the Chinese Olympic Committee and Reception in Celebration of SF&OC’s 60th Anniversary cum issuance of Special Publication. On the other hand, members of the National Sports Associations would also join this grand occasion by their respective organization of 32 mega events by using of the Diamond Jubilee Logo of SF&OC to mark the celebration of their significant event.
