The main Delegation to the Nanjing 2nd Asian Youth Games (AYG) returned to Hong Kong today in the afternoon (25 August 2013) with outstanding results by attaining 20 medals, including 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 13 Bronze in the six sports events, i.e. Aquatics (Swimming/Diving), Badminton, Fencing, Rugby, Squash and Table Tennis, placed at 11th in the medal tally (Their outstanding achievements are summarized at Appendix).
Led by Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, Vice President of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) cum President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (Federation) and Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, BBS, Hon. Secretary General of the Federation, Mr. Ronnie M.C.WONG, JP, Chef de Mission and Prof. LEUNG Mee-lee, Deputy Chef de Mission, the Delegation with 102 young athletes born between 1996 to 1999 participated in 12 sports events, i.e. Aquatics (Swimming/Diving), Athletics, Badminton, Fencing, Football, Golf, Handball, Judo, Rugby, Squash, Table Tennis and Tennis in the AYG. The Federation would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the athletes and wish them continued success in future competitions and the 2nd Youth Olympic Games which will also be held in Nanjing next year.
Last but not least, the Federation would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Home Affairs Bureau, Leisure and Cultural Services Department and FILA Marketing (Hong Kong) Limited, the sportswear uniform sponsor for their staunch support to the Hong Kong Delegation.
