The Tianjin 6th East Asian Games (EAG) concluded yesterday (15 October 2013). The main group of the Hong Kong, China Delegation returned to Hong Kong in the afternoon today (16 October 2013) with outstanding results by attaining a total of 56 medals, including 10 Gold, 16 Silver and 30 Bronze in 12 sports, ranked 5th in the medal tally (The medal list is summarized at Appendix).
Led by Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, Hon. President of the East Asian Games Association (EAGA) cum President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (Federation), Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, BBS, Council Member of the EAGA cum Hon. Secretary General of the Federation, Mr. Kenneth K.K. FOK, Chef de Mission, Mr. Karl C. KWOK, MH, Deputy Chef de Mission and Mr. T. Brian STEVENSON, SBS, JP, Deputy Chef de Mission, the Delegation with 303 athletes participated in 23 sports, namely Aquatics (Swimming/Diving), Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Cycling, DanceSport, Dragon Boat, Fencing, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Karatedo, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting and Wushu in the 6th EAG. The Federation would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and praise all the athletes for their striving for excellence, wishing them continued success in future competitions. After achieving remarkable results in the Incheon 4th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games and Nanjing 2nd Asian Youth Games which were held in June and August 2013 respectively, the outstanding results attained by the Delegation in the 6th EAG had made a fruitful conclusion for Hong Kong’s participation in the international multi-sports Games in 2013.
Finally, the Federation would like to express our heartfelt appreciation again to the Home Affairs Bureau, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for their staunch support, FILA Marketing (Hong Kong) Limited for providing the official sports uniform, Kent & Curwen for providing the official formal uniform, and Air China in sponsoring the air tickets to Tianjin.
