IOC Sports Medicine Course - Sports Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation

The four-day IOC Sports Medicine Course was successfully concluded by the Closing Ceremony held on 8 December 2013.  The ceremony was officiated by Mr. Timothy FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, BBS, Hon. Secretary General of SF&OC cum Acting Chairman of Hong Kong Olympic Academy, and Dr. Julian CHANG, BBS, MH, Course Advisor of the captioned course.

 

During the course, participants had learnt the physiotherapy and rehabilitation focused on leg injuries.  Two overseas experts, Dr. Juan-Manuel ALONSO and Dr. Carl ASKLING and five local speakers, Dr. Julian W. CHANG, Professor Ella YEUNG, Dr. SIU Kam Wang, Dr. TSANG Tsz Wan and Dr. Simon YEUNG conducted both lecture and practical sessions for all participants.  During Q&A session, exchange of experience and knowledge was further enhanced.

 

It was not the first time for SF&OC to organize medicine course, but it is its inaugural course focused on the physiotherapy field.  With the encouraging enrollment status of this course, the SF&OC would thank all participants and also Olympic Solidarity, Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for their support.

 

Event Brief:

The Hong Kong Olympic Academy under the jurisdiction of the SF&OC, with the financial support from Olympic Solidarity, technical support from Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, organized the captioned course on 5-8 December 2013 at Olympic House.  54 participants from the East Asian and South Asian regions (including China, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand), representatives from National Sports Associations, local physiotherapists and medical doctors with special interest in sports medicine have enrolled in this international course.
