Mr. PANG Chung, SBS received OCA Award of Merit


The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (Federation), is proud to announce that Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, current Hon. Advisor and former Hon. Secretary General of the Federation, received the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Award of Merit for his achievement and contribution to the Olympic Movement and sports development in Hong Kong and Asia at the 34th OCA General Assembly Opening Ceremony held on 15-16 September 2015 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.


A two-time winner of the “Best Athlete of the Year” in 1960 and 1970 respectively, Mr. PANG was a Hong Kong record holder in high jump and triple jump in the sixties.  Following his athletic achievements, he chose to dedicate his lifelong career in contributing to the sports community.  During his years of service as the Hon. Secretary General (1998-2015) of the Federation, he has done a meritorious job by building up the Hong Kong NOC Secretariat, in particular in annexing the Management Company of Olympic House Limited, the Office of the Hong Kong Athletes Career and Education Programme and the Office of the Hong Kong Anti-Doping Committee under its wings.  He also organized the Hong Kong, China Delegations to participate in international multi-sports Games, including but not limited to the Olympic Games and Asian Games.


Mr. PANG’s dedication and contribution to sports and education have long been recognized by the Asian sports community due to his immaculate service in the Education Committee under the OCA’s administration. In recognition of his contributions, the HKSAR Government honoured him with the Bronze Bauhinia Star Award in 2002, and the Silver Bauhinia Star Award in 2010 after Hong Kong’s successful hosting of the East Asian Games in 2009.
