SF&OC Welcomes Initiatives for Hong Kong Sport Development in 2016 Policy Address

The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (The Federation) welcomes the Government’s demonstrated long-term commitment in sports development in Hong Kong in the Chief Executive’s 2016 Policy Address.  The appointment of the Commissioner for Sports to coordinate cross-bureaux efforts in sports development and promotion to the community at large will definitely benefit not only the sports community but also the general public.

“The continued support from the HKSAR Government in sports development is greatly appreciated by the Federation,” said Mr. Timothy T. T. Fok, GBS, JP, President of the Federation.  “The Federation looks forward to working with the Commissioner for Sports, National Sports Associations and Hong Kong Sports Institute in preparing Hong Kong athletes to take part in the international sports arena, in supporting retired athletes in their post-athletic career and education pursuits, as well as in promoting sports to the Hong Kong community.”

The Federation will also continue to work closely with the HKSAR Government on the Multi-purpose Sports Complex at Kai Tak (MPSC) project in maximizing the available resources to cater for the widest variety of sports facilities for hosting international sports tournaments and housing the Federation’s affiliated National Sports Associations.
