Meeting between SF&OC Elected Officers and the Chief Executive of HKSAR

The Elected Officers of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) met with the Honorable C.Y. LEUNG, GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, today to exchange views on issues relating to sports development in Hong Kong.
During the meeting, Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of SF&OC, urged the Government to step up its financial support to the SF&OC and the 77 National Sports Associations under SF&OC’s umbrella, and to consider the possibility of using a lottery fund to support sports development.  The importance of a comprehensive sports policy review was also emphasized.  It is hoped that, based on the four cores of “sport for all promotion”, “elite training”, “venues and facilities development”, and “support for retired athletes”, the Government could continue its three major policy directions in “promoting sports in the community, supporting elite sports and developing Hong Kong into a prime destination for hosting major international sports events”.
The meeting today has established a continuous dialogue with the Government and enhanced the understanding of its direction to support sports development in Hong Kong.  The Federation will continue to collaborate with the Government to serve the local sports community and to promote the Olympic Movement.
