Team Welcome Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games

The Team Welcome Ceremony of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games (OWG) was held at 10:00 a.m. today (8 February 2018) in PyeongChang Olympic Village Plaza. Mr. Seung-min RYU, Village Mayor cum International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member officiated the Team Welcome Ceremony in the presence of Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, Hon. IOC Member cum President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), Mr. Tony YUE Kwok Leung, BBS, JP, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China Delegation, Mr. WONG Po Kee, MH, Acting Hon. Secretary General of SF&OC and Mr. Edmond YUE, Team Manager of Alpine Skiing of the Hong Kong, China Delegation..

The bauhinia flag was raised with the national anthem of People’s Republic of China.  Subsequently, Mr. Ryu, the Mayor and Mr. YUE, Chef de Mission exchanged souvenirs representing the friendship between PyeongChang and Hong Kong.  Lastly, the Ceremony ended with Korean cultural music and K-Pop dance in a carnival atmosphere. 

The Opening Ceremony of the OWG will be held tomorrow (9 February 2018) evening at PyeongChang Olympic Stadium.  Miss Arabella Caroline Yili NG, the athlete representing Hong Kong, China was assigned as the Flag Bearer of the Delegation, to march-in with other delegation members in the Ceremony. The order of the march-in is according to Korean Alphabet and Hong Kong, China is the last Delegation in the parade prior to the host country, Korea.

Arabella will compete in Alpine Skiing – Ladies’ Giant Slalom and Slalom events on 12 and 14 February respectively.
