Background of the Olympic Sport and Literature Competition organized by the Federation in Hong Kong
Organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the first Olympic Sport and Literature Competition was held in 2001 with an aim to strengthen the link between literature and celebration of the Olympic Games. As a member of 202 National Olympic Committees, Hong Kong took part in the 1st edition by sending 9 pieces of literature to the International Phase of the Competition. Under the organization of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Education, the competition was then organized every four years starting from 2001. The literature works were around either one of the following themes: ¡§Excelling oneself¡¨, ¡§Fair Play¡¨, ¡§Respect for others¡¨, ¡§Balance between body and mind¡¨ or ¡§Joy in effort¡¨.
